ASLM seeks to achieve the following objectives during the COP 2014 funding cycle.

Objective 1. Support SLIPTA auditor Training and post-audit trainee practicums. Trainees that scored higher than 70% on the ASLM SLIPTA post-training assessment will accompany ASLM SLIPTA auditors on three audits in order to become certified ASLM auditors, and will go on to provide technical assistance to laboratories in Nigeria. At least 41 laboratories will be audited annually, and ASLM will certify all eligible trainees. ASLM will train 25 laboratory auditors through this process. Objective 2. Auditing laboratories mentored through SLMTA Process: ASLM will support the auditing of clinical laboratories that have gone through the SLMTA process and awarding the laboratories certificates of recognition based on the number of stars scored. This is implementing the WHO approved step-wise accreditation process for laboratories. At least 41 laboratories will be audited by ASLM and provided with certificates of recognition. From these audits ASLM will provide guidance to laboratories that qualified to apply for national and international accreditation. Objective 3. Laboratory program review: ASLM will facilitate a comprehensive review of a sample of laboratories in Nigeria, and collect data on the services offered, testing capacity, to identify and respond to identified gaps, particularly those pertaining to PMTCT, EID, CD4 monitoring and VL monitoring programs.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
