Peace Corps Kenya will implement Prevention program by increasing coverage for specific target population, within Peace Corps Volunteers sites. The agencies interventions, strive to improve quality,thus enhancing efficiency through behavioral and structural interventions. Cross cutting issues that Peace Corps Kenya will respond to include; Food and Nutrition; commodities, Economic Strengthening, Education, Water, Gender Based Violence and Gender Equality.The key populations are the young women and men from high and medium prevalence counties and pre- risk youth in the nine high prevalence counties. Peace Corps Kenya HIV/AIDS activities are aligned with the Kenya’s Government HIV/AIDS strategic plan.

Peace Corps Volunteers and HCNs will be equipped with knowledge on how to address economic issues, by training them on skills, concepts and strategies, for project design and management. Through the VAST grants communities will be equipped with knowledge on successful Homestead Food Production programs to meet the special needs of people living with HIV/AIDS and other chronic diseases. PCVs and HCNs will be equipped with knowledge and skills to identify the co-factors of vulnerability of commercial agriculture to the HIV epidemic, Skills to assess the socio-economic impact of HIV and AIDS-related morbidity and mortality on commercial agriculture, particularly in terms of production loss and increasing labor-related costs caused by the epidemic; and skills to identify economic strategies to address co-factors of vulnerability to the epidemic and its impact.
