USAID recently awarded a contract for the five-year DHS-7 project, the seventh round of the Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) project.

Overarching objective of the DHS-7 Project: Improving the collection, analysis, and presentation of population, health, and nutrition data and facilitating use of these data for planning policymaking and program management. Plannign for the Zimbabwe Deemographic and Health Survey has commenced. The procurement process will be iniated in CY 2014.

Fieldwork for the Zimbabwe DHS is planned to commence in June 2015 until December 2015. preliminary results are anticipated around April 2016.. The total budget for the ZDHS is estimated at $4 million dollars. The other required resources will be funded through the MCH, FP resources while traditional donors such as DFID and the EU are anticipated to partly cover the costs.

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.
