National Blood Service Zimbabwe (NBSZ) will continue to pursue the current five main project goals on equity and access; QMS; training; infrastructure and M&E based on available funding. As part of its sustainability strategy, most of the programme activities will be budgeted from the NBSZ cost-recovery operational funds. NBSZ will collect 60 000 units of whole blood towards the national blood collection target. All donated blood will be screened for HIV, Hepatitis, and syphilis. The percentage of HIV sero-prevalence in donated usable blood will be reduced from 0.39% to 0.35%. An attempt will be made to increase the percentage of repeat donors nationally from 60% to 70%. Human capacity will be developed in the implementation of QMS throughout NBSZ. The participation and management of EQAS schemes, and the performance of Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) committees in all branches will be promoted for improvement. M & E data on blood usage will be collected and provided in an annual report.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.
