NOTE: The following is taken from summaries released by PEPFAR on the PEPFAR Data Dashboard. They are incomplete summary paragraphs only and do not contain the full mechanism details. When the full narratives are released, we will update the mechanism pages accordingly.

TDRC will continue to generate strategic information by initiating and sustaining ongoing HIV surveillance activities. TDRC will conduct antenatal clinic sentinel surveillance for HIV/syphilis (ANCSS) in 2014 and 2016 in northern zone of Zambia; assess the utility of prevention-of-mother-to-child (PMTCT) program data for HIV surveillance; estimate HIV incidence from ANCSS and 2013 demographic and health survey; renovate laboratories for analysis of HIVDR and neglected tropical diseases (NTD); conduct surveillance of HIVDR strains; and engage key stakeholders in identifying gaps in HIV epidemiological data. TDRC will set-up schistosomiasis and trypanosomiasis surveillance, and a coordinating centre for NTD reporting.

TDRC will continue strengthening the information, communication technology (ICT) infrastructure; maintaining local area network (LAN) servers and equipment; improve the basic internet access in ANCSS and TB diagnostic sites; provide training to scientific staff in data collection, management, analysis and report writing, and promulgation of information. TDRC will develop monitoring and evaluation indicators for assessing program performance. TDRC will strengthen data processing infrastructure, and support renewal of statistical software.

TDRC will continue providing TB external quality assurance (EQA) oversight to laboratories in Luapula, Copperbelt and Northwestern Provinces; proficiency testing and training of TB laboratorians; and enhance HIV/TB laboratory screening for TB among people living with HIV for early case detection and treatment. TDRC will also continue to strengthen laboratory surveillance of multiple drug resistant TB (MDR-TB) and extreme drug resistant TB (XDR-TB). TDRC will continue working towards accreditation of laboratories.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.
