Since the beginning of the project in Vietnam, FANTA has supported assessments of 1) infant feeding practices of HIV-positive women, 2) the acceptability of a locally produced Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) among PLHIV, and 3) the prevalence of malnutrition among pre-ART and ART patients. FANTA has also provided technical support to National Institute for Nutrition (NIN) to develop National Guidelines for Nutrition Care and Support of PLHIV. Under a sub-agreement between NIN and FHI 360/Vietnam, FANTA is supporting NIN to analyze data on the prevalence of malnutrition among PLHIV, advocate with VAAC to include nutrition indicators into the HIV HMIS, finalize national nutrition and HIV training materials, train trainers in nutrition and HIV in the nine PEPFAR priority provinces, and strengthen Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) and pilot implementation of the National Guidelines for Nutrition Care and Support of People Living with HIV in two districts in Dak Lak Province. FANTA will complete these activities and phase out in FY14. No new funds are requested for the program in COP14.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
