Peace Corps Volunteers will support training of Village Health Teams and the community to promote PMTCT, HTC, VMMC and improve linkage and referrals to care and support services. Volunteers will also work closely with MARPs to promote HIV/AIDS prevention among key populations(CSWs, Fisher Folks, Truckers, and MSM), train and set up Income Generating Activities (IGAs) for HIV/AIDS infected/affected, and support general support and care services for Orphans and Vulnerable Children. The IGAs will be supported by VAST and include poultry, bee keeping, animal distribution, bead making, and piggery. Volunteers will also promote low input gardening methods (such as key hole gardening, permabeds, and sack gardening) designed to promote increased uptake of nutrient-rich foods that bolster the immune system, enhance adherence, and improve overall health and productivity. Other activities that will be covered under IST include HIV/AIDS regional training of both Volunteers and their counterparts to promote integration and HIV/AIDS cross sectoral implementation, and monitoring and evaluation to improve reporting, assess inputs, and increase results.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
