The mechanism will support the implementation of TB/HIV activities 34 states and will target the traditional TB DOTS service delivery points. The objective is to reduce HIV associated morbidity and mortality among them TB patients. The project in order to enhance its cost effectiveness will work with already existing State TB/HIV teams and improve their capacities to plan, implement, supervise and monitor TB/HIV collaborative activities.

State level support in the TBHIV program has been traditionally carried our through the joint efforts of the State and National TB Programs, The State and National AIDS and STDs Control program, The WHO TUB NPOs and the ILEP members (Damien Foundation Belgium, The Leprosy Mission Nigeria, German Leprocy and TB Relief Association and Netherlands Leprosy Relief). The engagement of state teams in the project planning, implementation and service provision will ensure that it is sustainable ans cost efficient. This approach will also ensure that there is GON participation and ownership from the unset and that interventions are in line with the National TB/HIV Strategic Framework.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
