FGH, Friends in Global Health began implementation of the Avante Zambezia project in September 2012. It receives PEPFAR funds to provide direct financial, clinical and technical assistance in 14 districts of Zambezia Province. It supports goals and objectives of the PEPFAR Blueprint’s Road Map to saving lives, smart investments, shared responsibility, driving results with science, contributing to the PF Goals/objectives 1-5 and the GHI focal areas.

Goals and objectives will be directed to contribute to: 1. Ensure that 80% of adults and children HIV+ eligible are receiving ART, 2. Decrease Mother to Child transmission ( MTCT) of HIV to <5% , 3.Reduce the number of new infections by 50% ;

In COP 14, jointly with the provincial health Directorate (DPS), FGH will continue to focus on one key objective which is the HIV and AIDS Response – Strategic Acceleration Plan 2013-2015, to respond to the commitment to an AIDS Free Generation goal by the end of 2015. Activities will target the following populations: PLHIV, CSW, MSM, PWID, prisoners, young girls, pregnant women, OVC, vulnerable children. Strategies for this mechanism to become more cost efficient over time include using expenditure analyses data for decision making processes and prioritization. The monitoring and evaluation plan for these activities includes strengthen data analysis, data use and data management to improve quality of service delivery and health management (improvement and expansion of the electronic patient tracking systems, DQAs, monthly cross data checks , training of staff and data quality of the M&E tools). This partner receives GBVI funds to implement the MOH miniumum package of services.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.
