Through Esperança de Vida, REENCONTRO will provide community-based services to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC’s) and People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHIV) in the province of Gaza. The objective is to improve OVC and PLWHIV families’ health and socio-economic situation. REENCONTRO will implement the evidence based economic strengthening interventions targeting household’s impacted by HIV, the Village Savings and Loans to benefit families of OVC and PLHIV. Support eligible PLHIV and OVC families’ access social protection benefits through INAS as an important way to reduce economic vulnerability of households and improve food security. The nutritional component will be emphasized through referrals of malnourished children and women to clinical and community services, and nutritional education and demonstration. As appropriate, beneficiaries will be referred to counseling for SRH/FP services. Gender will address barriers which limit access to services, opportunities and place the burden of care on women and girls. Stronger emphasis will be placed to ensure activistas counsel those receiving HBC services to adhere to their ART regimens and participation in support groups. Another important activity will be to support the ART lost to follow up tracing and return to their ART, as well as a coordinated effort to ensure that OVC and families benefit from HCT, and facilitate the enrollment of those positive in care and treatment as appropriate. REENCONTRO will also refer pregnant women to PMTCT and ANC services and home follow up of pre and post-partum women, while ensuring that exposed babies do make it to the next clinical appointments with their moms and access PCR test in due time.
