The Botswana National Alliance of State & Territorial AIDS Directors (NASTAD) works with the Ministry of Local Government & Rural Development (MLG&RD) and the National AIDS Coordinating Agency (NACA) to build the capacity of national and local government structures to plan for and implement needs-based HIV prevention programs, and to strengthen public health systems to support sustainable and effective program delivery and outcomes. In line with the goals of the second National Strategic Framework for HIV and AIDS (NSF II), National Community Mobilization Strategy (NCMS) and the Partnership Framework, the objectives of this cooperative agreement are to 1) strengthen the capacity of the public sector to plan, manage and evaluate HIV prevention, care and treatment programs at national and local levels; 2) build organizational capacity of public sector offices to support delivery of national and local HIV programs and 3) create sustainability in national and local HIV programs. NASTAD will continue to push for GoB-led planning and implementation of its programs with a focus on ensuring cost effectiveness, smooth transition and sustainability of all its existing programs. All programs will be embedded in other GoB programs by 31 May 2015. Quarterly reports and monthly meetings with CDC Botswana will be used to track progress of activities.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
