Task Force for Global Health (TFGH) was named as the Prime Partner for this mechanism during FY13. TFGH is a non-profit organization founded as a task force for child survival in 1984. TFGH programs include work in three sectors: health systems strengthening, immunizations and vaccines and neglected tropical diseases. The purpose of this mechanism is to ensure the provision of capacity building assistance for the Botswana MOH to optimize quality and performance of public health systems, the public health workforce, public health data and information systems, public health practice and services, public health partnerships and public health resources. For this project, TFGH will conduct business process analysis; redesign those processes to be more effective and efficient and identify information system requirements to support the planning and management work for Botswana’s healthcare workforce. This is in line with the Botswana HRH Strategic Plan. The implementing mechanism’s progress will be tracked through quarterly reports, MOH feedback and full implementation of corrective measures for the identified bottlenecks. This is a government led project to build capacity, so in the future GoB will be able to carry its systems evaluation without partner involvement.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
