This mechanism encompasses two goals. First, it supports the GOE to standardize approaches that promote household resiliency among OVC caregivers and PLHIV in areas with high HIV prevalence. Second, it provides resiliency options for households of OVC who must be prematurely graduated from the Yekokeb Berhan program due to the PEPFAR funding decline. This mechanism aligns with the GHI strategy to improve the status of HIV-affected vulnerable households. Household resiliency reduces the risk of HIV infection among OVC by enabling access to social services. It also enables PLHIV to buy food and adhere to treatment, decreasing reliance on food aid, promoting the clinical benefits of drug regimens, and preventing the emergence of resistant strains. FHI360 will build the capacity of the FHAPCO and Federal Micro and Small Enterprise Development Agency to oversee the implementation of approaches across the country. Outputs include the development of national guidelines and program management skills and findings from operational research to inform the scale-up of best practices and promising innovations. This mechanism will receive additional funds of $ 368,703 from future proposed reprograming to meet its total spend amount of $700,000.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
