The project aims at contributing to reduce mortality and morbidity due to HIV/AIDS through assuring safe and adequate blood products for transfusion.

Specifically, the objectives are:(I) rehabilitating infrastructure and equipping Provincial Blood Transfusion Centers (CPTS) and Reference Hospital Transfusion Centers (CHRTS) , (II) mobilizing the community to increase the number of non-remunerated voluntary blood donors, (III) supplying CPTS and CHRTS in reagents and consumables for blood safety, and (iv) assuring training of healthcare providers, peer recruiters and other personnel according to their identified needs.

With COP2014 funding, we are planning to: (i) develop Blood Safety Policy and Guidelines, (ii) train healthcare workers and peer recruiters, (iii) strengthen hospital blood transfusion committees,(iv) reinforce PNTS human ressource capacity and (ix) coordinate all activities of blood safety in DRC. Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
