This IM will assist the government of The Bahamas to implement strategic-information activities, strengthen laboratory management and diagnostic services for HIV, and build NGO capacity to link HIV+ MARPs to quality care and treatment. During the coming year, lab strengthening will include the payment of the salary of the Lab Strengthening Manager and purchase of molecular reagents to support DNA PCR testing. In Prevention, support involved the packaging of HTC and PHDP training curricula and materials, with a focus on key populations, for health care providers and/or lay counselors. Further prevention support included targeted HTC outreach HTC for key populations and PITC and rapid HIV testing training for decentralization of HIV services. SI activities entailed the identification of data sources and data use. A Consultant was engaged to review and strengthen data collecting activities and position description finalized for an epidemiologist and M&E specialist. In ensuing years, IM49 will continue to support the lab person position, consolidate gains in SI to generate high quality surveillance reports and improve programs, and strengthen high quality and targeted prevention, treatment and care services for the general population. IM49 has been tailored the work to build capacity among its existing staff while looking to increase technical expertise in-house through in-service mechanisms with a further view to absorb key personnel into the MOH complement. CDC continues to work with the MOH to ensure the efficient use of USG resources in achieving the outlined priorities for the 5-year CoAg. The MOH is required to formally report through semiannual and annual submissions.

Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.
