University of California San Francisco (UCSF) supports the Government of Kenya (GOK) by strengthening strategic information in the Republic of Kenya. Specific objectives are: 1) To provide technical assistance to GOK and their partners in planning, implementation, analysis, and dissemination of surveillance and survey activities and 2)To build surveillance and epidemiologic skills of GOK and their partners.

These objectives address the priority surveillance needs for GOK and USG. Through these activities, the Implementing Mechanism (IM) serves general and key populations in community and facility settings.

Through capacity building activities to GOK and its partners, in-country ability to conduct HIV surveys and surveillance activities will be strengthened and sustained. UCSF will monitor progress through quarterly meeting and reports to PEPFAR.

Mechanism Target Information

Since COP2014, PEPFAR no longer produces narratives for every mechanism it funds. However, PEPFAR has now included performance targets or indicator information for each mechanism based on the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting (MER) system. The MER guidance is available on PEPFAR's website https://www.pepfar.gov/reports/guidance/. Note that COP years 2014-2015 were under a previous version of the MER system and the indicators and definitions may have changed as of the new 2.0 guidance.

This mechanism has no published performance targets or indicators.
